Thanks for sharing the 2019 Jewish International Film Festival with us; as always, it was a pleasure and a privilege to present our program to audiences across Australia.
From the wisdom of Dr Ruth to Taika Waititi's searing satire, and a whole festival inbetween, JIFF 2019 has born witness to stories that encompass the great diversity of the Jewish experience. Documentaries unravelling extraordinary true stories screened alongside feature films and series from around the globe, and this year, we championed local tales: Man on the Bus from Melburnian filmmaker Eve Ash, and What Will Become of Us, which explored the genesis and journey of Sir Frank Lowy.
Drumroll please! We're thrilled to announce the Audience Award winners for our biggest JIFF to date:
Best Feature Film
My Name is Sara
The Song of Names
Best Documentary Film
Ask Dr Ruth
Man on the Bus
Fiddler: A Miracle of Miracles
A hearty mazeltov to all the deserving winners, and a big thank you to everyone who took the time out to vote. Congratulations to Sam K and Diane C who both won 10-passes to JIFF 2020! Stay tuned to JIFF VOD; over the next few months we'll be releasing a selection of your favourite titles from this year's festival program.
If you missed it at the festival, Australian documentary Man on the Bus continues screening on Sundays across December (Melbourne only). Frank Lowy documentary What Will Become Of Us releases on December 12 at the Classic, Lido and Ritz Cinemas, and Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love comes to Classic (Dec 26) and Ritz (Dec 12) Cinemas.
Stay up to date with JIFF news and films during the year, and for regular updates and insider news during the festival period.
