Eva, Elisabeth, Livia and Mimi have been friends for over 80 years, still regularly getting together to play bridge. The four Jewish women arrived in Stockholm after surviving the Auschwitz concentration camp as teenagers and have lived there ever since.
Their shared love of bridge has helped them balance the memories of the past with the joy they find in their love for their families. Life proceeds as usual, but suddenly everything changes after Hamas’s terrorist attack and the relentless war in Gaza that follows.
The Bridgeplayers offers a poignant view of today’s global politics and conflicts seen through the eyes of four survivors of one of the darkest times in human history. As the women’s relatives eagerly collect their stories before it’s too late, we bear witness to their zest for life and their humanistic worldview.
